Please note this scan is not suitable for post-menopausal ladies. It is important to understand that this scan does not include cancer screening. If you are already under the care of your local hospital, we advise that all scans be conducted by your healthcare provider. Depending on your reason for booking you may be asked to attend at a certain point during your cycle. This scan is available to women over 18. Please note this is not a pregnancy scan, and you will be asked to attend an early pregnancy scan if you have received a positive pregnancy test result.
This type of scan appointment requires an internal transvaginal scan. For this reason we recommend you do not bring children or a large group of friends or family members. This scan is for people over 18 years of age.
If you choose not to have a transvaginal scan, we may be able to complete the scan abdominally (from the top of your tummy) – but results may not be as accurate.
Please be advised we only scan you for long enough to achieve the purpose of your appointment. Our aim is to protect yourself in accordance with the BMUS Guidance and we regularly update our procedures based on the BMUS guidance.
Our sonographers are highly skilled & experienced in ultrasound scanning, and able to offer trans-abdominal and trans-vaginal scans. While most ultrasound scans are performed over the tummy (abdominal), sometimes a trans-vaginal scan is necessary. We will always explain clear the process and obtain your consent. Our sonographer will always discuss this with you and will let you know if a trans-vaginal scan is required.
If we recommend to see your NHS care provider for ongoing further checks, we will provide you with a copy of your report to your healthcare provider. It is your responsibility to ensure to consult your NHS care provider without delay. (please see our T&C’s for additional details)

No, we cannot perform a transvaginal scan on clients who have never been sexually active or are virgo intacta. In such cases, we will carry out a transabdominal (external) scan instead. For this type of scan, you will need to have a full bladder

No, at Baby Scan Studio you can book your scan appointment directly without any referral from your GP. If you have any concerns about your health, it can be useful to have scan results ready to discuss with your GP to reduce any waiting times.
