A gender pregnancy scan is perfect for parents who want a reliable gender reveal, reassurance about their baby’s wellbeing, and a truly special experience to remember.
If you are experiencing pelvic pain or bleeding, we strongly recommend that you first contact your local hospital or call NHS 111 for medical advice. If you’re still concerned after this, we are happy to see you for a scan.
You’re welcome to bring guests with you to your appointment. However, if you’re in the very early stages of pregnancy, we advise not bringing children, as some scans may require a transvaginal approach. To check how many guests you can bring, please refer to our Terms and Conditions. Scans are available for adults aged 18 and over only.
Please remember, this scan is a private service and is offered in addition to your NHS routine scans – it does not replace any of your NHS appointments.
We will only scan for as long as is necessary to complete your appointment safely. This is to protect both you and your baby, following the official guidelines provided by BMUS (British Medical Ultrasound Society). We regularly update our procedures to meet the latest standards.
If your scan results suggest you need further medical care, we will explain everything clearly and give you a written report to share with your NHS care provider. It’s important that you follow up with them promptly. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions for more details.
Before booking, please ensure you have read and accepted our Terms and Conditions.
A £10 deposit is required at the time of booking. This deposit is non-refundable and will be deducted from the total price of your chosen package. All scans are by appointment only – we are unable to accept walk-ins.
You must be over 18 to book a scan.
If you need a translator, please let us know in advance.
If you have maternity records or recent NHS scan reports, please bring them with you to your appointment.
Gender Pregnancy Scan FAQs
Yes, gender scans are highly accurate when carried out from 15 weeks of pregnancy. We’ve been offering gender scans from 15 weeks for several years and can confirm they are 99.9% accurate at this stage. Before 15 weeks, the baby’s genital area is not fully developed, which makes it harder to confirm the gender reliably. Accuracy between 11 and 14 weeks drops to around 70%, and before 12 weeks it can be as low as 54%. For this reason, we only offer gender scans from 15 weeks onwards. If your baby is not in a good position or the cord is between the legs making it hard to see clearly, we’ll offer you a free rescan – though this is rarely needed. All our scans are performed by highly skilled NHS-trained sonographers using the latest ultrasound technology.
Unfortunately not. Before 15 weeks, the accuracy of confirming gender significantly decreases due to the stage of your baby’s development. The NHS 20-week scan does not always include gender confirmation, as it isn’t part of their standard checks. Although some NHS sonographers may offer to tell you the gender, we’ve seen cases where these early confirmations turned out to be incorrect. Our sonographers are experienced in performing gender scans daily and are well-trained in this specific area.
Gender scans are always done using 2D ultrasound, which provides black and white images. This is the only reliable method for checking gender and general wellbeing. 3D and 4D scans are not used for these checks, as they are more suitable for seeing your baby’s features. That said, we do offer a little 4D ‘sneak peek’ during your gender scan appointment if you’d like one. Just let your sonographer know. However, keep in mind that before 20 weeks, babies tend to look very slim on 4D images as they haven’t yet gained much weight. The best time for clear 4D images is around 26 weeks.
There are times when it may be difficult to confirm the gender clearly, often because of your baby’s position or other factors. If this happens during your appointment, we’ll be happy to offer you a free rescan on another day. This does not apply to the 4D ‘sneak peek’ as it’s provided free of charge and not guaranteed.
Yes, absolutely – we know that sharing your scan experience is one of the most special parts of pregnancy. You can bring up to three guests with you to enjoy the moment. Children are welcome too, but we do ask that they are supervised by another adult. However, please be aware that in some cases a transvaginal scan may be necessary, and in these instances, we advise against bringing children or large groups to ensure your comfort and privacy.
That’s completely fine. Just let your sonographer know at the start of your appointment and they will ensure the gender is not revealed during the scan.
Our experienced sonographers do their very best to get clear images during your appointment. However, certain factors can make this more difficult, such as your baby’s position, where the placenta is located, or your BMI. If it’s hard to determine the gender with confidence, we may ask you to take a walk or change position in the scan room. If that still doesn’t help, we’ll offer you a free rescan at another time.
If we’re not able to confirm your baby’s gender clearly, we’ll explain the situation and may offer you a free rescan on another date. For this reason, we strongly recommend that you don’t schedule a gender reveal party immediately after your scan. It’s best to allow at least four days in case a rescan is needed.
If you choose to find out your baby’s gender during the appointment, we can add a special touch by lighting the scan room in pink for a girl or blue for a boy. It’s a lovely and memorable way to celebrate the moment with your loved ones.
Yes, we can! If you’d prefer to keep it a surprise, we’re happy to write the gender down for you. We also have gender reveal items available, such as confetti balloons and gender cannons, which keep the gender hidden until you’re ready to find out. If you have a special request like this, just get in touch and we’ll do our best to help.
Most of the scans will be in 2D. We do, however, do a short snapshot in 4D, which we recommend after 20weeks, because babies are too slim before 20 weeks. The ideal time is around 26weeks. This is just a short snapshot of 4D mode, so if your baby is in the wrong position, we may not be able to get any 4D view.
